BMW unveils a 'Golden Thunder Edition' for the 8-Series

The name is a bit pompous but the car is cool

If you can get past the slightly pretentious name, some might like it and some won't, the Golden Thunder Edition BMW 8-Series comes with dollops of personality and polarizing design. I think we need some of that right now because the car industry is a bit... flat these days.

This is technically not a new model because it is a special trim level, developed by the brand as part of its BMW Individual programme, available for any version of the 8-Series Coupe, the convertible and even the all-new Gran Coupé. If you go for the Golden Thunder Edition option, you will also automatically get the M Sports Package.

The car is painted in Sapphire Black Metallic o Frozen Black Metallic, and in both cases the car comes with several elements painted in gold, including the wing mirrors and the M Design 20-inch wheels. Inside, you'll find black Merino leather with "Edition Golden Thunder” embroidery, Alcantara upholstery for the door panels and the headliner and then you also get a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System.

BMW hasn't said anything about pricing yet but considering the Golden Thunder also includes the M Package, it probably isn't going to be cheap.

  • It just looks like a factory manhart edition. That is to say great though!
