BMW X7 to debut at LA Motor Show: whose lunch will it eat?

Its front grille might not be as stately - or gauche depending on your view - as its fellow BMW-owned Rolls-Royce Cullinan, but if facial bling is anything to go-by, the new X7 certainly makes a statement.
BMW’s range-topping SUV is set to make its public debut at next week’s LA motor show. Expect it to come brimming with tech, 4-zone climate control and a large panoramic roof as standard. Available as a 6 or 7-seater, it will be a burly beast of a car.
But how will it fair in a global SUV market ever more fragmented by the day? A fair match for the Mercedes GLS, Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator in the US perhaps? But in Europe, will it be too portly for the supermarket carpark? Does it have enough heritage or class to make an impact in the Middle East or China?
