Bodymotion Racing considering various options for its Porsche GT4 for 2019
Bodymotion Racing is contemplating several options for pro road racing in 2019. A division of a Bodymotion Incorporated, whose New Jersey-based shops offer state-of-the-art full service auto mechanical repair, collision and refinishing, race car fabrication, and street car performance upgrades, the Bodymotion team ended the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Series season in third place in the Street Tuner (ST) class championship after one victory, two second-place finishes, four third-place finishes, two fourth and a single fifth-place finish. Its No. 21 Porsche Cayman, sponsored by Competition Motorsports, Delaware Funds, and Monticello Motor Club, fielded a car for Jason Rabe and Max Faulkner. Bodymotion Racing, which has been competing on track since 1984, also fielded a GS car in seven of the series’ 10 races.
The team is currently evaluating its plans for the 2019 racing season. Both the GS and TCR classes are under consideration, since the ST class took its final bow at the season finale at Road Atlanta last month. For 2019, IMSA has partnered with a new title sponsor for what will be known as the Michelin Pilot series. Bodymotion also is considering the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA series, and is open to running the Pirelli World Challenge Series for the right customers.
“Since we had to retire the Porsche Cayman we’ve been running for the past five years in the IMSA Continental Tire ST class after the season finale, it’s created an open book for us for the future,” said Bodymotion Racing team owner Michael Bavaro. “Since we’ll be purchasing a new Porsche GT4 for 2019, we have a few options in which to run it. It’s just going to take the right partners and driving pair to see what path we go. We’re talking to a number of people but haven’t hit the jackpot yet. It takes the perfect combination to make it work in racing.”
