Brace yourselves, the new Ford GT auctions are coming...
Well it was only a matter of time. The new Ford GT auctions are about to start and the prices are about to get ridiculous.
If you're unfamiliar with the whole Ford GT process, here's a quick breakdown of what the last four to five years has looked like.
1) Before you got your car you had to send in an application to even be considered by Ford to get one. Ford then hand picked people to get the cars based on loyalty to the brand, social media reach, and potential to showcase the car out in the public.
2) You had to sign an insane amount of paperwork, including a clause that you would not sell or flip the car for profit within a two year time frame.
That's the ultimate short version, but if you're reading this then there's a strong chance you're an automotive enthusiast and know exactly what has been going on, including the whole process itself. With all that said, the first batch of Ford GTs were delivered in 2017 and, if you can maths, then you'll know it's 2019 and that means it's been two years so people are going to start selling these bad boys for a good amount of cash.
There's actually one coming up for auction at RM Sotheby’s during Monterey Car Week August 15-17. Car Week is basically the most elite people buying and showcasing the most elite cars for a full week. It's pretty epic. At least the YouTube videos tell me so.
So why is this big news, well because this is one of the FIRST new Ford GT auctions that isn't illegal (see: John Cena's debacle). We can't show you any of the pictures because they're all copyright claimed, but you can check out the listing by clicking right here. The car is a beautiful orange with black stripes. It's also reported that it will fetch north of $1.5 million which is one hell of a good investment when you consider they were $450,000-$500,000 new, depending on specs and where you got it from. I'm sure there were also other people who paid more, but a million dollar gain in value is NUTS in two years for such a new car.
We'll all be watching this one with heavy interest.
