Brawl in Bahrain: Predictions for the Bahrain Grand Prix
Thiemo Vs Kiran - Round V
So I think it's fair to say that neither Kiran nor I really got anything right prediction wise last time out for the Turkish Grand Prix (well I said Hamilton would win but coming into Sunday, I wasn't convinced that was going to happen!). But in our defence, it was a bit of a mad one. If you want to see how dismally we did though, feel free to check the article out by clicking on the link below.
Will either of us guess anything correctly this weekend?
Anyway, enough of that - let's get back to the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix. It's been a while since Formula 1 raced in the desert but with Mercedes dominance this season, it looks like the race itself might be a return to business as usual. However, for that very reason, it may just be the exact opposite of a boring race. Kiran and I hope so at least because then some of our predictions might be right. Check them out below...
Who will get onto pole position?
After being so close last time, I think Max Verstappen will come back with a vengeance and stick the Red Bull on pole ahead of the race. He was clearly gutted at missing out last time and I think he'll put all his energy into ensuring it doesn't happen two races in a row.
Valtteri Bottas - I just don't want to say Hamilton will be on pole, that's basically it!
Who will be on the Podium?
Nothing seems to be stopping Hamilton at the moment so unless he has an incident of some kind, I reckon he'll win the race. Perez and Ricciardo are looking fairly strong at the moment and Max and Valtteri will be looking to fix the mistakes they made in Turkey so I think it will be a close fight between those four with Max and Perez ending up on the podium by the end of it in second and third respectively.
Bottas, Sainz, Norris. Yes a double McLaren podium! And maybe if I keep saying Hamilton will hit trouble, it will actually happen!
Relive the last Bahrain Grand Prix ahead of the double header coming your way to kick off the end of the 2020 season.
Who will retire first from the race?
That first corner always proves spicy in some form or another and Grosjean's been pretty quiet on the crashing front lately so I think these two will go together and cause the first ruckus of the race with Grosjean's collateral damage being able to limp back to the pits for repairs whilst he retires.
Pierre Gasly - for no specific reason. My (unreliable) instinct says so.
If I don't say Russell getting his first points, then it might actually happen. So instead, I think that in the closing stages of the race, Bottas will realize he won't get on the podium and Albon makes a late overtake to finish ahead of him in the race. The young chap could do with something good happening to him.
Apart from the McLaren double podium, I'm saying that Kimi will finish in the top 7 - that's one for the bold-o-meter.
Today, we look at one of Japan's best Racing Drivers.
