Breaking: Names of McLaren's New Supercars leaked
The next-gen McLaren supercars will be ditching alphanumeric names in favour of proper names
When McLaren unveiled the Artura, it hinted that its next-gen supercars could be ditching the alphanumeric nomenclature. Now, according to three trademark applications from UK's Intellectual Property Office uncovered by Carbuzz.com, it seems that the rumours were true and future McLarens will be having proper names.
The trademark reveals that McLaren is working on three new supercars - Solus, Aeron, and Aonic. It is rumoured that these next-gen supercars will take McLaren into the electric era and sport a completely new design language.
In case you were wondering, 'Solus' means alone and 'Aeron' is a name of a masculine God of battle. As for Aonic, the meaning of the name isn't clear right now.
If the names are anything to go by, then we expect the Solus to be a single-seat supercar and the Aeron to be a mind-boggling supercar/hypercar. Let's see what the future hold for McLaren and its fans.
