Breaking News: Stephan Winkelmann is the new CEO of Lamborghini

He has not left Bugatti and will continue to be their President

Ever since the news has come that Stefano Domenicali will leave Lamborghini and become the CEO of Formula 1 from 2021, Lambo fans were worried as to what happens next.

Worry no more because Stephan Winkelmann will return as Lamborghini boss once again from December 2020. You might be thinking, 'Has he left Bugatti then?'. The answer to this question is no, Stephan has not left Bugatti and will continue to be President of the French hypercar maker.

In his previous stint as Lambo boss Stephan impressed and eventually took the next step in his career by becoming the President of Bugatti. Under him the Molsheim-based hypercar brand released exotic cars like the the Divo, the La Voiture Noire, Centodieci and the mind-boggling Bugatti Bolide.

It will be a great challenge to manage these two companies, but one that I’m really looking forward to

    Stephan Winkelmann

This looks like a promising time for both Lamborghini and Bugatti. Under Stephan it is expected that Lamborghini will reach its peak and launch cars that will push their rivals to the absolute limit. Let's not forget that Winkelmann was the guy behind the legendary Gallardo and the superb Aventador.

There are still unanswered questions. Will Rimac buy Bugatti? Will VW sell Lamborghini? We will find their answers very soon.

    • One of the very few automotive CEOs on the planet worth looking up to. Focused, reduced to the neccessary and with a vision. A true world citizen in my eyes.

    • Im pretty sure Rimac has already agreed on the deal with VW for taking over Bugatti so this just sounds like Winklemann wants to stay with the VW group and this is his way of ensuring that.
