Breaking: Porsche set to enter F1 in 2025
The VW Group has been interested in entering F1 and now it looks like Porsche will enter the sport in 2025
For what seems like an eternity, Porsche has been looking into entering Formula 1 either as an engine supplier or as a team. Now though several reports from CAR magazine and BBC suggest that Porsche is very interested in entering the sport.
The Formula 1 regulations will be undergoing a massive overhaul in 2025 and Porsche has been in FIA’s engine working group. Numerous reports suggest that they have been very active in the meeting and take part in them regularly.
With the regulations changing and a level playing field available, 2025 seems like perfect year for Porsche to enter Formula 1. A budget cap will be introduced of $135 million per team in 2023 which also increases chances for Porsche entering F1.
Right now it is looking like they are more interested in entering the sport as a supplier rather than a team. Porsche's CEO Oliver Blume has said that "F1 is the top tier of motorsports, and we follow it closely."
