Breaking: The electric Porsche Macan will arrive in 2023
Porsche has given us a first glimpse of the upcoming SUV
Porsche has put all the rumours to bed and revealed that they are working on an electric Macan which is set to be unveiled in 2023. The German brand has revealed images of the prototype.
Bear in mind that this is just a prototype and the rear bumper, exhaust tips and chrome window are fake. The electric Macan will not be built on the Taycan’s J1 or the VW Group’s MEB platform, instead it will be built on Porsche's all new PPE platform. The PPE platform has been developed by Audi and Porsche for their future electric cars.
The electric Macan EV will boast ultra-fast charging thanks to 800V electrics and it will also have high levels of regenerative braking.
Just like the Taycan, customers will have the option of two different battery sizes for their electric Macan. What's more, the Macan EV will have more range than the Taycan.
“It will have everything the current Macan has for performance technology and in addition high-end electric technology from the Taycan. It will look like a typical Porsche and fulfil your expectations of an electric vehicle. It is a typical Macan but much more modern and sporting,” Porsche's engineering director Michael Steiner told Top Gear.
Porsche has confirmed that electric Macan will be unveiled in 2023.
