Breaking: Volvo to go all-electric by 2030
The Swedish brand will receive orders for its EVs online only
Volvo has just announced that it will be going fully electric by 2030. The Swedish brand has also said that it will be shifting all EV sales online.
By 2030, Volvo will be removing all cars with an internal combustion engine including hybrids. Volvo has also said that this decision is made "on the expectation that legislation as well as a rapid expansion of accessible high quality charging infrastructure will accelerate consumer acceptance of fully electric cars."
All the electric models will be available online only and Volvo will unveil its second fully electric car later today.
Henrik Green, chief technology officer said: “There is no long-term future for cars with an internal combustion engine. We are firmly committed to becoming an electric-only car maker and the transition should happen by 2030. It will allow us to meet the expectations of our customers and be a part of the solution when it comes to fighting climate change.”
