Hyundai surveyed 2000 UK drivers and found out that the average UK drivers swear roughly every 2.5 miles, or 41 times for every 100 miles driven.

Given an average monthly commute of 373 miles, this means at least 152 curse words a month – and that's before you add in the monthly average school run of 64 miles, which means a further 23 'F', 'C, 'B' and other 'words'.

Hyundai has also found out that 84 per cent of drivers didn't realize that swearing and rude gestures aimed at other drivers counts as 'disorderly behaviour' which could land you a fine of up to 75 per cent of weekly income.

The study found nine in ten UK drivers admit to swearing behind the wheel. Parents are somewhat more controlled as 61 per cent of them claim they are more restrained when kids are on board, with 45 per cent saying they substitute swear words with softer versions such as 'fudging hell'.

Sylvie Childs, from Hyundai Motor UK said: “It’s been fascinating to delve into the mindset of drivers with this research, which has been commissioned as part of Clean Driving™ Month where we’re calling on all drivers to drive a little bit cleaner.

"Whether that’s getting in the right mindset to keep their attitude and language clean, improving their driving style or championing the benefits of alternative fuel."
