Brittany Force Takes NHRA Top Prize
The 31 year old American becomes the first female to take the Top Fuel top prize since 1982.
Winning is in the blood of the Force Family. John Force, patriarch of the clan is a 16 time NHRA Funny Car Champion. His daughter Ashley Force Hood was the first woman to ever win in a Funny Car. Courtney Force, the youngest of the clan, holds the record for most wins by a woman in a Funny Car.
And now, Brittany Force can add her name to the Forces who have won. The 31 year old Yorba Linda native claimed the 2017 NHRA Top Fuel Championship, becoming the first woman to do so since Shirley Muldowney did so in 1982.
Force, who is a graduate of Cal State Fullerton (my Alma Mater!), is the first John Force Racing driver to compete in the high octane Top Fuel division of the NHRA.
Force won the title by besting her season long competitor Shawn Langdon during this weekends competition at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA.
"This doesn't seem real," Force said in an interview to the LA Times, "Today is huge. We made history."
