BSB: Showdown Round 1 - Oulton Park Race 2

The second race of the first round of the showdown has concluded, how does the Championship stack up now?

9w ago

Jason O'Halloran started from pole after setting the fastest lap of the race in the first race of the weekend, Christian Iddon joined him on the front row in second place and Peter Hickman started third.

But in the race it will be mostly Mackenzie vs O'Halloran as the Championship battle heats up in British Superbikes!

Oxford Products Racing Ducati:

The ride of the season goes to Tommy Bridewell! Unbelievable is the only word I can come up with to describe Tommy Bridewell's race performance in race two! Tommy looked so off the pace all weekend and a mistake on lap four saw him plummet down to thirteenth place. But by lap ten Tommy was back with the lead group as he was in seventh place. Slowly but surely Tommy was making his way through the front six riders, until lap eighteen when Tommy hit the front and showed everyone what he is made of! Because of this race win Tommy is now third in the Championship and will start on pole for race three.

McAMS Yamaha:

Jason O'Halloran comes home in second place, after leading the whole of the race he was pipped on the last lap by Tommy. However, a second place is very good for Jason after he did not finish the race yesterday. But a second place finish is good for Jason because he beat his main title rival, Tarran Mackenzie.

Speaking of Tarran Mackenzie, the little Scotsman finished third place in race two. Tarran was scrapping it out all race with the front five, but late on in the race Tarran settled down into a rhythm as he always does and he managed to solidify his third place finish. The gap between Tarran and Jason is now nine points!

VisionTrack Ducati:

Christian Iddon who started second place dropped back in the race to fourth place. I think Christian might be rather disappointed with this because he had the pace to run with the front three, but sadly it just was not Iddon's race to get a podium. Christian has now dropped back to fourth in the Championship.

Josh Brookes who is seventh in the Championship, looked so strong all race. The two time British Champion was battling for the podium once again, but it was an awful end of race two for Brookes as he lost the front at the very end of the final lap!

FHO Racing BMW:

Peter Hickman brings home a decent fifth place after a poor race yesterday. I do not believe that Peter will win the Championship as he is fifty four points behind, but I do think that he could finish fifth in the standings, which is where he is sat.

Synetiq BMW Motorrad:

Danny Buchan managed a eighth place finish in race two. This is an average result for a showdown rider, but the field is just so strong and every rider in the top eight are all class riders!

Honda Racing:

It is a dreadful result for Glenn Irwin today as he crashed out of the race. This has definitely ruined his Championship chances.

Rich Energy OMG Racing BMW:

Bradley Ray had a good race today as he managed to cling onto the front group and stuck with them all race. Sadly, Ray did not manage to get involved in the leading battle but he did manage a seventh place finish, which puts him ninth in the Championship.

FS-3 Racing Kawasaki:

Lee Jackson has had two good races at Oulton Park this weekend. As well as his fourth place finish in race one he managed a sixth place finish in race two. Lee is now tenth in the Championship and riding for his future in the Championship.
