BTCC Team Manager talks 2020, helping racers and being a family team

I speak to Tony Gilham, former touring car driver and founder of Team HARD, about helping drivers find a seat and the 2020 touring car season.

The British Touring Car series is hugely competitive. Teams battle it out over ten race weekend, and 30 races to be crowned the champion in one of the oldest motoring competitions in the world.

As the 2020 season approaches, or not depending what happens in the UK and isolation over the next few months, we spoke to the founder of BTCC movers and shakers, Team HARD.

I caught up with Tony at their 2020 scholarship, a week long event for hopeful drivers to win a fully funded seat in the Ginetta GT4 cup series.

We discussed the value of running an event such as the scholarship, particularly for a team like Team HARD who's roots are firmly tied to being a family first.

Formed in 2013 in its current guise, Team HARD has gone from strength to strength and is now arguably the biggest team in the UK, if not Europe. In addition to running 4 cars in this years elite BTCC championship, the team will run cars in a host of series from the VW Cup to the Saxos and possibly even the Britcar championship.

With a BTCC line up comprising of BTCC race winner Jack Goff, Nic Hamilton, brother of multiple F1 champion Lewis and BTCC veterans Carl Broadley and Howard Fuller. Team HARD are in a cracking position to better their points tally and finish of 2019.
