Bubba Wallace is going to drive for... Michael Jordan?
Michael Jordan, Denny Hamlin, and Bubba Wallace are teaming up for 2021
Remember a couple weeks ago when Bubba Wallace announced he was leaving Petty Motorsports? My initial reaction was "who would you rather drive for then Richard Petty?!"
Michael Jordan, that's who.
MJ and NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin have decided to partner up to start a one-car Cup Series team. Michael Jordan will own the majority of the team, and Hamlin will still drive for Gibbs Racing in the FedEx car. They've selected Wallace to drive their car, which they haven't announced the number for or who the sponsor will be. I can't help but assume #23 is the obvious choice... I have to point out too that Bubba Wallace is coincidentally number 23 in the current standings. Is this a sign of good things to come?
Hamlin and Jordan have been friends for a long time now, and MJ has been a NASCAR fan since going to races as a kid. I'll admit that I'm not much of a basketball fan, or a NASCAR fan for that matter, but this news has me excited. I just finished watching "the Last Dance" on Netflix, which made me a fan of MJ's. This might be what I needed to get back into NASCAR once again.
