Build Threads to watch out for in 2017

Build threads. We all love a good build thread, you know the ones I mean. Picture heavy, mad engine swaps, crazy fabrication, and the passion you can just tell the writer has when updating his thread.

So here are a few of my favourite threads that you need to keep an eye on over the next year...

The first offering come from Stanceworks Build section, the thread curator is known as Pekå who hails from Sweden. His project is a BMW E28 Saloon.

The E28 when it was started...

But here's where it gets interesting. He is building it into a CONVERTIBLE! If it looks anything like his render of it, this thing is going to be an absolute work of art and BMW will be devastated they didn't make it first...

Just WOW

You can check out his progress here - www.stanceworks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90825

This next car I found on migweb.co.uk. The builder calls himself 'The Simps' and he is from Norwich in the UK. This is perhaps my favourite ongoing build and I have been following it for a few years now. It started life as a bog standard Vauxhall Nova 2 Door Saloon, but you could get away with calling it a coupe I guess?

The build went through a few variations. Redtop conversion, RWD, etc... and he eventually went for it and decided to fully space frame it with a 200sx engine and underpinnings.

That SR20DET looking right at home!

The next thread is a Nissan 200SX S13, which is just a cool car no matter what anyone says. I stumbled across this one whilst scrolling through the Driftworks forum. The owner is a young guy called 'Kingzy' who is 19 and is building his dream S13 to go drifting in. Kudos man.

He didn't start this project that long ago and i'm utterly impressed with the progress he's made. You can tell how much he loves working on this car and making it his own. Big aero kit, roll cage, and forged internals. Yes okay its not anything we haven't seen before, but its always refreshing seeing someone build a car their own way without any thought to what other people think. Keep an eye on this one.

Now what sort of guy would I be if I didn't shamelessly plug my own project? Well here she is! A 1971 Fiat 125.

Many moons ago prior to my ownership...

That was the car at Castle Combe around 10 years ago. It was owned then by a very good friend of mine and that's him driving it! Go snoop! The car is now in a largely rusty state and is the perfect candidate for a restomod! It now has Mk1 MX5 rear suspension, front suspension to be fitted very soon and will undergo lots of chopping and welding to make way for a Mazda 13B Rotary engine.

As you can see it's pretty bad right now, hopefully 'it shouldn't take me too long'...If you do want to follow my own build you can do that here - www.stanceworks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92422&highlight=fiat

So there you have it, my builds to watch this year. I suspect there are more out there, so if you feel i've missed any don't forget to comment with the links to your favourite builds!
