Cadillac said the Lyriq Debut Edition sold out in 19 minutes
…and that’s because they’ve taken a leaf out of Tesla’s book
Consumers are [statistically] becoming brand agnostic and that’s a double-edged sword for legacy brands with big names such as Cadillac. It means customers aren’t going to buy your car just because it‘s ‘Cadillac’, but they will buy it if it’s a compelling product. That’s what happened with the Lyriq, one of Cadillac’s most hyped vehicles in ages.
The company confirms that every single Lyriq Debut Edition was sold - or perhaps I should say allocated - in just 19 minutes. Part of the reason why it was so successful is Cadillac took a leaf out of Tesla’s book and when reservations opened last weekend, all you needed to reserve your Lyriq was a $100 deposit.
The base model will cost $59,990, while the Debut Edition will be priced from $58,795 and deliveries are scheduled to commence in the Summer of 2022 and vehicles will be sold as 2023 models.
The 2023 Lyriq Debut Edition is a rear-wheel-drive EV, equipped with a 255-kW (340 hp, 325 lb-ft) unit and powered by a 100.4-kWh battery pack, giving it a range of 300 miles (483 km).
It looks like a million bucks on the outside - and that’s what you want from a Cadillac - and it looks futuristic and modern inside, without being excessive. And it’s Cadillac.
