7/18/2018 - Day 8... We had two afternoon appointments, A private tasting with our friend Dustin Moilanen at ZD wines and Dinner with Brian & Linda Baker at Salt & Stone restaurant in Kenwood. Both were later in the day so we conducted a little recon in the morning and decided to check out Ledson winery.

Ledson
We had passed the palatial estate many of times while visiting nearby vineyards such as Kunde. We had also come across a bit of documentary on the history of Ledson and it peaked our interest enough to make a visit.
We arrived just as it opened and walked the grounds for a bit and then entered the mansion. We were warmly welcomed and shown to the tasting room. The server was a car enthusiast with quite a collection of his own. We discussed cars as he walked us through the list of wines that they had to offer.
Dave from Ledson
All wines were quite drinkable and delightful.

Travel to ZD wines
Our trip from Ledson to ZD wines was an exciting one. The route included Trinity road, Dry Creek Rd and Oakville Grade Rd to Oakville Cross Rd; all which were very winding, narrow and treacherous. This was not our first time using this route and wouldn't be the last for this trip.
Here is a closeup of the route
Here are some of the reviews of the route.
ZD Wines
We made it just in time for our appointment at ZD wines on the Silverado trail!
The ZD name has many different meanings, not only representing the last names of the founders, Norman deLeuze and Gino Zepponi, but also the zero defect standards that they both lived by during their careers designing rockets for propulsion manufacturer AeroJet. This adopted ethos was carried over to their wine making and can be seen today through their state of the art technology.
Our friend and Hospitality Director Dustin Moilanen gave us a private tour of the facilities and showed us the plans for expansion (very exciting)! Very good wines at ZD! This was the only location that we revisited on our trip.

To Salt and Stone Restaurant
Our trip from ZD to Salt and Stone Restaurant took us back over Trinity again.
We met up with Brian and Linda for dinner at Salt and Stone in Kenwood, not far from Kunde family winery. It was great to catch up with our friends who had visited with us only a few months earlier in Jupiter Florida!
