Can you fit a coffee machine to a car?
Most options on cars are boring, exspensive and many times useless. It is time for a change.
Most people, including myself, like to have a BBC inside of them. I'm serious. I do not leave the house without a big black coffee. So, when I leave the house to go to work or university I take a thermos with me. This means that either the coffee is going to be cold or the coffee is going to be old. I don't really mind it too much since my caffeine addiction is still satisfied. However, I need to drive back during rush hour. I'm tired, slightly irritated and hungry. And if another BMW cuts me off, I need to remind myself it isn't worth the prison time. So, can I solve this problem? Can I put a coffee machine in my car?

I need a coffee machine that works on a 12v cigarette lighter receptacle. Of course it also needs to work while I'm driving on the motorway and not just when I'm stationary. I can't just put it in the passenger seat, I need a table that is secured to the car. It needs to be removable without damaging the car so that it can truly be a mobile coffee machine. So, I bought a Dunlop coffee machine 12v that works on the cigarette lighter receptacle for 20 euros. I made a table out of 3 pieces of wood I had lying around. This can be any cheap wood as long as it is slightly flexible and not to thick. I used wooden planks that were 4 mm thick. I nailed them together and that is it. I jammed it between the driver seat and the passenger seat, nice and secure and yet easy to remove. I used duct tape to attatch the coffee machine to the handcrafted wooden table. I put a little plastic box with coffee grounds and a scoop on top of my back to the '80s cd box. Time for a test drive.
After a couple of test drives, I found out that it works surprisingly well and that the mug attracts dust like nothing I have ever seen before. Important to notice, the filter gets a permanent coffee colour and taste really quickly. Personally, I do not consider that to be a problem.
So, can you fit a coffee machine to a car? Yes! It will set you back 20 euros and an hour of your time. I even think it is weird that a professional version is not an option on most cars. When everybody was smoking, every car came equiped with an electronic lighter and an ashtray. Smoking in cars is history, but everybody drinks coffee or tea. Until the car industry is going to make this DIY option into an actual professional option, the real question is; should you try it yourself? Yes, do try this at home.
Thank you very much for reading! If you try it yourself and something goes wrong I am not responsible. Bump and comment!
