Can you make money on a mouldy $300 car?

It's too soon to say...

About two weeks ago, I got my hands on a 20 year old Hyundai Elantra for just $300, with a slight catch - the car was bug infested, mouldy and hadn't been driven in about 3 years. So in other words, it's the perfect project!

Considering it's a complete car that runs and drives, I'd call it a solid deal. But before this car is going anywere near an online listing, it needs a serious detail inside and out. In the first episode of my Abandoned Hyundai Rescue mini-series, we strip the interior down and get to work deep cleaning every surface we can reach.

  • The car washing part is strangely satisfying

  • I have purchased several cars that were sitting for between 1 and 400 dollars and with a lot of cleaning and some maintenance sold them all for over 1200.. made 600 to 800 on each of them.

  • Is making money the same as saving it, not spending it? If it is, then I love bangernomics. Really cheap old cars with life still in them. I can fix most things, even though my stamina is rather poor these days, then again my annual mileage is next to nothing so not much conks out that needs fixing. If you have only a very tiny income, you must make the pennies count, so I try to get the most car for the least outlay, and this includes the running costs.
