When Felipe Massa joins the Formula E grid next season, he will be (by my count) the 24th driver to have raced in both Formula 1 and FE - and the third F1 race winner to switch to the electric series.

We were a tad surprised it was such a high number, so we decided to go through them one by one, and compare their F1/FE records.

To qualify for this list they must have driven in races in both championships - so third drivers who drove in free practice sessions only do not make it.

In no particular order, here they are - and see if you can guess the mystery names before flipping the card to reveal the answer...

Jaime Alguersuari

Best F1 result: 7th (twice)

Best FE result: 4th

Just hanging at the bar, putting out the vibe... (Pic: Sutton)

Was, at the time, the youngest F1 driver in history when he made his debut, but was dropped after two-and-a-half seasons with Toro Rosso.

Spent a season driving for Virgin Racing in FE, before quitting motorsport altogether to concentrate on his DJ career - in which he goes by the name ‘Squire’. Really.

Bruno Senna

Best F1 result: 6th

Best FE result: 2nd

Drove for HRT, Lotus and Williams in F1, scoring points regularly for the latter in 2012, before driving for two mildly successful seasons in FE for Mahindra.

Mystery driver number 1

Best F1 result: 4th

Best FE result: 4th

The only driver on our list who has gone the other way and done Formula E first, and then gone to F1.

He drove two races for the Renault e.dams team in the 2016/17 FE season and is still active in F1 - but can you name him?

Flip the card to reveal the answer.

Karun Chandhok

Best F1 result: 14th

Best FE result: 5th

Had half a season driving for the ill-fated Hispania Racing Team in F1 in 2010 and a one-off appearance for the similarly ill-fated Lotus outfit the year after.

A season of Formula E racing for Mahindra saw him pick up two points finishes.

Charles Pic

Best F1 result: 12th

Best FE result: 4th

Spent two seasons racing for Marussia and Caterham in F1 without troubling the scorers. Did one race for Andretti and four for China Racing in FE in the series’ first season.

Franck Montagny

Despite everything, Montagny had a racing career not to be sniffed at (Pic: Sutton)

Best F1 result: 16th

Best FE result: 2nd

Had a handful of pointless races for Super Aguri in F1 in 2006. Joined the Andretti team for the inagural FE season, coming second in the very first race, but was then kicked out of the series after testing positive for a cocaine derivative.

Mystery driver number 2

Best F1 result: 1st

Best FE result: 4th

He's a race winner in F1, but only ever managed a best result of fourth in Formula E when he drove in every race of the inaugural season.

Came you name him?

Jerome d’Ambrosio

Best F1 result: 13th

Best FE result: 1st (twice)

An F1 season with Virgin Racing in 2011 yielded no points, and a one-off race for Lotus in 2012 gave him his best finish of 13th.

Has fared much better in FE, with two wins for Dragon Racing already under his belt.

Lucas Di Grassi

Best F1 result: 14th

Best FE result: 1st (x6), and 2016-17 champion

Another F1 Virgin Racing refugee who found his niche in FE, winning the title in 2016-17.

Kamui Kobayashi

Best F1 result: 3rd

Best FE result: 15th

Kobayashi always had the fans smiling when he was overtaking like a demon in F1 (Pic: Sutton)

A fan favourite thanks to his swash-buckling overtaking style in F1, he picked up plenty of points in races for Toyota and Sauber - including a hugely popular home podium at Suzuka.

Made his FE debut this season for Andretti, but could only manage a 15th and a 17th.

Vitantonio Liuzzi

Best F1 result: 6th (twice)

Best FE result: 9th

A serial lower-midfield runner for Red Bull, Toro Rosso, Force India and HRT in F1, he had five races for Jarno Trulli’s FE outfit in the first season, finishing in the points once.

Mystery driver number 3

Best F1 result: 2nd (x8)

Best FE result: 3rd (x8)

Amazingly, this driver holds the record for the most podiums finishes without a win - in both Formula 1 AND Formula E. But who is it?

Esteban Gutierrez

Best F1 result: 7th

Best FE result: 8th

Had two seasons with Sauber and one with Haas, but only scored points once - a seventh in Japan for Sauber in 2013.

Did just three races for Techeetah last season, scoring points twice.

Sebastien Buemi

Best F1 result: 7th (twice)

Best FE result: 1st (x12), and 2015-15 champion

Had a mediocre F1 career, spending three seasons with Toro Rosso, but has flourished in FE, winning the 2015-16 championship and being runner-up twice. Currently fourth in the table in this year’s championship.

Sakon Yamamoto

Best F1 result: 12th

Best FE result: DNF

Did 21 F1 races for Super Aguri, Spyker and HRT but never managed a point. Had two races for Amlin Aguri in 2015 but retired from both.

Jean-Eric Vergne

Best F1 result: 6th (twice)

Best FE result: 1st (x4)

Another Red Bull junior driver, he had three seasons with Toro Rosso in F1, before leaving for FE where he is a regular podium finisher and is currently leading the championship.

Justin Wilson

Best F1 result: 8th

Best FE result: 10th

Raced in F1 for Minardi and Jaguar, then came home 10th for Andretti in his FE debut in Moscow - just months before he was tragically killed after a racing accident in the ABC Supply 500 at the Pocono Raceway in the US.

Andre Lotterer

Best F1 result: DNF

Best FE result: 2nd

Remember when Lotterer raced in F1? (Pic: Sutton)

His sole F1 race experience was 21 laps of the 2014 Belgian GP for the Caterham team. Is currently driving for the Techeetah team in FE, and has two podiums this season.

Stephane Sarrazin

Best F1 result: DNF

Best FE result: 2nd

Started one Grand Prix - the 1999 Brazilian GP - for Minardi as a replacement for the injured Luca Badoer, but spun out on the 31st lap. Fared better in FE, and has three podium finishes to his name.

Mystery driver number 4

Best F1 result: 1st (x11)

Best FE result: 11th

He's a Formula 1 World Champion but only managed two non-points finishes in Formula E.

Can you name him?

Nelson Piquet Jr

Best F1 result: 2nd

Best FE result: 1st (twice), and 2014-15 champion

Had a season and a half in F1 with Renault and was then embroiled in the ‘Crashgate’ saga, before finding his niche in FE and winning the very first championship title.

Takuma Sato

Takuma Sato's F1 podium came at the track where he would later win the Indy 500 (Pic: Sutton)

Best F1 result: 3rd

Best FE result: DNF

Midfield runner for Jordan and Super Aguri in F1, he has only one FE start: a DNF in the opening round of the 2014-15 season in Beijing.

Scott Speed

Best F1 result: 9th (twice)

Best FE result: 2nd

Failed to score a point in a seasons and a half in F1 with Toro Rosso. Scored a podium on his FE debut at Miami in 2015, but only did three more races and failed to score again.

How many of these did you remember? Let us know in the comments...
