The Porsche Taycan has revolutionised Porsche's lineup as their first-ever EV, and it's achieved widespread critical acclaim from around the world. All that power, performance and style does come at a high price, however, with even base models starting north of £70,000 without options.

So, what to do if you want a Taycan, but can't afford to buy one? Well, why not print your own? That's exactly what this YouTuber has done, with remarkable skill, patience, precision, and a 3D-printing pen.

Ok, so it's not a full-scale Taycan (can you imagine how long that would take!) but it's still incredibly impressive nonetheless, and even has functioning lights.

The shell was built up using layers of skeleton-like prints, traced from what appear to be scaled-down blueprints of the Taycan. They were then bonded together to form the base shell of the car, with the gaps being 'filled in' by the 3D pen, which is then sanded, moulded, sprayed and refined with items such as decals and other small touches from modelling putty.

Not content with just having a model of the Taycan, the YouTuber then adds an electric motor and steering system to his build, turning this scaled-down model into a fully-functioning RC car. Apparently, the build took around a month from start-to-finish, but it's certainly a lot cheaper (and possibly more satisfying) than buying a real-world Taycan.   • This is insanely impressive and keeps on impressing the more I see it. Asian hobbyists, in general, are on a level that is hard to surpass, be it Gunpla, other model kits and craft builds made of whatever, really.

    I wonder, though, what the limit is for 3D pens like that. I assume that 1:64 is going to be impossible, but it seems like even 1:43 will be tough if the chassis/armature is all print plastic.
