Buckingham Palace (London) to Élysée Palace (Paris)

The car:

Budget of €30,000

Any french brand

Any body type

Journey Description:

Tackling two of the world's most famous capital cities, you will be leaving the residence of the British Head of State and arriving at that of the French. In between lies hour long jams, crazy busy motorways, thin city laneways, multiple petrol station stops, and the five pound London congestion tax. Oh and might I mention the infamous Eurotunnel train which you will board in your car and stay in for the underwater journey in between. You might want to think comfort, and very city-friendly. And DONT FORGET THE TERMS!

Consider these pics before confirming your decision:

So what do I do?

With this journey in mind, you need to use the terms and limitations I've given you to configure a car and then upload the finished configuration to the comments right here! And give us your reason for picking it, remember it never has to be the best so long as you like it. So go ahead and show me how you would go about our challenges!

  • For obvious reasons I chose a Renault (I’m a Renault/Dacia mechanic). I chose a Mégane estate because it’s a cool looking car and you can change the mood lighting (which is a fun feature). I chose ‘copper’ because brown just seems to suit everything, I couldn’t change the wheels or interior given the model I chose. I chose the 1.3 litre turbocharged engine (140bhp) because the only diesel is the new 1.6, and that’s too new for me to trust just yet (it would be fine going from London to Paris but long term ownership is a different thing). I chose a manual because I prefer them. I included the single optional extra of a spare wheel, because that tyre weld stuff doesn’t work 80% of the time and it means the tyre can’t be repaired. There’s not much more I can say! It’s a comfortable, well equipped car in a controversial colour (that I personally like)
