Carol Shelby wanted to ensure Americans knew what they had achieved, so they set out on a 12-city tour called "Cobra Caravan" with the Shelby GT350R.
After Ford had won the 1965 GTWorld Championship, Carol Shelby the man behind the engineering of the race cars got a bit frustrated by the fact that Ford management and marketing wasn’t really doing anything for publicity to address their achievements. The disgruntled Shelby decided to take up his own road show that he called “Cobra Caravan”. The roadshow that would tour 12 cities, Shelby chose six cars – a Cobra Daytona coupe, a GT 40, 427 and 289 Cobras and two GT350 Mustangs.
