Carrera Panamericana - Day 4

3w ago

Thick fog masked the start of day 4 as Angie and Gabriel set out from Queretaro in 4th place. The haze didn't slow them down though and they put in some great times on the stages with a 9th (26.3 seconds behind leader), 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th.

It was all going well till the last stage of the day when disaster struck. A faulty hose connection gave way dumping all of their engine oil. Their tyres received a liberal coating of fluid as they were forced to pull off the road, no doubt the resulting spillage made the going rather fruity for the racers behind them too! Not an insurmountable problem but it cost them big in the time stakes as they were unable to complete the stage.

The resulting penalties meant the team slid down to 11th place with a full 2 minutes 40.7 seconds to make up if they are to reach the top step of the podium. Thankfully the team mascot was on hand to keep their spirits up. That's what I love about these guys, no matter what set back they face, they never stop smiling and enjoying life to the fullest.

Thanks again to Angelica Fuentes Garcia for letting me share her photos and story with you. #lacarrerapanamericana #team122
