Carroll Shelby's DeTomaso Pantera Goes Up For Sale

I have made a discovery. Whilst browsing the interweb tonight, I came across a rather intriguing listing on Hemmings Motor News. Apparently Carroll Shelby's 1983 Pantera will be going up for sale. It was gifted to Shelby by DeTomaso and has only done 4,571 miles. However, if you're interested in this car like all petrolheads will presumably be, hold your horses. There's a caveat.

As most cars owned by famous people are, this car is rather expensive. Buyers wishing to own Mr. Shelby's DeTomaso will have to plop down $249k. Which is all jolly and fine if you're a wealthy petrolhead. However, most of us haven't got nearly half a million quid just lying around underneath a few couch cushions. So, sadly, for most of us, owning such a car will only be a dream, at least for now.

The link to the listing is posted below:

  • Have you seen the price of Panteras lately? You could argue that this is good value given its provenance.

    • I have seen the prices. Yes, given that this one was owned by Shelby himself, it's a bargain compared to the normal ones which are mostly close to $100k.

    • Good ones are pulling double that in Australia now. If you’d bought one 3 years ago you’d have doubled your money.

If I bought that one I’d be losing the horrible US bumpers!
