Cars from my youth

A selection of pictures of cars that meant a lot to me in younger years

1y ago

I was looking through some old photos today and realised what an impact cars from my youth have had on me. Excuse the quality of some of the images but time has not been too kind to my good old prints. All the cars were either owned by me, my parents or close friends, but I am happy to say I spent many happy hours in all of them. The top image was my best friends Fiat 124AC in Brisbane, 1985 and there are captions for each image.

Whats are some of the interesting examples from your youth? Let me know in the comments.

  • After graduating From OCAD University I got an 1964 Austin Healy 3000. It was great fun to drive and I loved the sound it made if you engaged the electric overdrive under a bridge. This is a photo take at Guelph Stove, my first job as a junior Industrial Designer.

  • Perfert post. I wanted to do something similar but Im lacking pictures. Except for all sorts of Zastavas/Yugos, I especially remember (during the 90s):

Uncles Yugo 55 which went like stink in my 12yo world

W123 300D bright red... fathers uncle...

GAZ Volga... all I remember that it was 2.5 petrol...

    Lada 2105 (Riva)

Alfa 33 facelift 1.7 IE.... this one was owned by a friend of mine... and really started my interest in Alfas generally

    • You’ve certainly owned an interesting selection. There really are some cars that you never forget.

  • What a nice selection of cars. I especially find the 911 interesting.

  • I worked on a fiat 124 exactly the same as the one in the first pic when I was a first year apprentice in 1994 at Tweed Heads. I wonder if it’s the same one, there aren’t too many on the ground in Australia.

    • I guess it is possible. This one was owned by my best friend who lived in the kenmore area close to Indooroopilly. We used to use it for navigation rallies around Brisbane with some car club.
