Cars That I Think Should Comeback: Dodge SRT-4/GLH

An SRT-4 is the only thing currently missing from Dodge's Lineup.

Over the last few years, Dodge has become a brand that has shares Jeremy Clarkson's obsession with speed and power and it's showed, but I've felt there has been something missing from the Dodge lineup in recent years, and that is a cheap-ish fire-breathing compact that would rival something like a Focus ST, Civic Si, or Golf GTI. Dodge has done this on multiple occasions. The first time was back in the '80s with Dodge Omni GLH/GLH-S, and the second time was with the Neon SRT-4 in the early 2000s. Sadly, we haven't seen anything like it since and I wish that Dodge would make either a direct or spiritual successor to the Neon SRT-4.

I know, I know. I didn't forget that made the Caliber SRT-4 pictured above, but it was a Caliber. It was rubbish. A polished turd is still a turd.

Now how would I bring back the SRT-4 if I were Dodge? They would need a compact car. For this scenario will pretend that Dodge Dart is still in production as it was the last and most current compact car Dodge has made for the North American market.

Looks of the car:

The styling on the new SRT-4 will be based the styling on the 2 Dart concepts shown above. The SRT-4 would look pretty much like the Dart R/T concept with the only real difference being that the new SRT-4 would have the iconic SRT-4 Neon rear wing. I also really like the Dart GLH concept I'd probably use that has a special package on top of the SRT-4 that would have a rear wing delete, and red trim with the 3 color options that the Omni GLH came with. Red, Black, and Blue.

Specs and Performance:

The Dart SRT-4 would use a turbocharged 2.0L I4 that would produce around 275 hp to be on par with cars like the Hyundai i30n or Focus ST. Of course, other things would have to be upgraded as well to handle the extra power. The SRT-4 would have stiffer suspension, and bigger brakes to accommodate the extra power and through the use of lightweight materials like carbon fiber the car would also be lighter. Power would also be sent to the front wheels via either a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic.

The SRT-4 ACR:

Before I end there is one more performance version of my vision for another Dodge SRT-4, and that is the SRT-4 ACR. This thing would be Dodge's answer for the Ford Focus RS, and Honda Civic Type-R hyper hatchbacks. It would use the same 2.0L Turbo I4 but with power bumped up to around 320hp and an AWD system.
