Cars That Stir the Soul... I finally know what they were on about.
Recently where I live there was a retro cannonball and obviously I had to go have a good poke around some of the beautiful pieces of nostalgia fueled metal parked in a swanky hotel in the south west of Ireland. There was the usually smattering of 911s a gorgeous "Escort Rs Cosworth" and simply stunning Black 1967 Mustang which was modified and there was a Testarossa which was made even better when we discovered it had YouTube sensation "ChrisFix" in it mixed with some rather fun modern support cars those of which being a Lovely C63 AMG along with a new C43 which in my opinion is slightly less lovely and a simply gorgeous Alpina B6.
But this said, for me there was a standout from the field, a grey E30 BMW M3. It was immaculate , as it pulled in the driver gave it a few revs, the sound reverberated around the car park and it was a classic BMW m car noise, the full petrol head symphony, Incredible.
As a Bmw fan I immediatley pour over this thing, looking at all the intricate details. the little added lip spoiler at the front, the slight kick on the iconic rear wing the beautifully small steering wheel, the gorgeous alloys which were slightly dished, it was incredible. I was in love, I wanted to find the keys and take it away with me so we could go have a happy married life together living in small garage by the Nurburgring and whisper sweet nothings into its wing mirrors and as you can imagine this didn't happen and I've been pining for it ever since.
Said beautiful Wheels
As you may have gathered from the title this car did something to me that I'm not sure I had experienced up until this point. It was more than just cool and interesting to me I could sense character it had. It didn't just affect my mind and my eyes and ears, it touched my soul, It touched me emotionally and I finally get what people like Clarkson have been going on about for so long, about that in describable point about a car that you can't put your finger on but you need to have it in your life and all I know is that I need more of it.
I know some of you out there won't know or care about what ever drivel I'm on about and will think that my love letter to a bit of 1980's German metal which in comparison to modern cars is so outdated, but for those of you who do get me and understand I thank you and I think the world is a better place because of us.
