Caterham are now back and available on the Australian market after a short two years. The British marquee needed time to sort meet the new WLTP emissions regulations and has now got its Australian Compliance Approval again. Thus, the flagship model the Caterham seven is now available to order.
However, with this good news there is also a bit of limitations. Caterham has only got three variants of the seven for the Aussie market. These include the 275, 485 S and 485 CSR.
The 275 is simplest model of variants. You get a 1.6 litre Ford straight 4 cylinder. You get 134 hp and 118 lb-ft of torque. It does not seem much but this comes in package that weighs only 540 kgs. How much will this lighten your bank account? about $74,000.

The 485 S is a bit more power from a 2.0 litre engine that produces double the power - 237 and half more the torque - 151 lb-ft. You do a limited slip differential and adjustable suspension. This entire package will cost you $115,000.
The 485 CSR only costs a $1,000 than the 458 S, more you get anti roll bars in the front, inboard front suspension and independent wishbone suspension in the rear. This seems like the better investment than the 485 S.
Caterham showroom is in Melbourne and you can order yourself one there.
