Caturday: Truly Premium
The F&F release of HW's mad cat is a revelation.
2/3 of 2020 is already done. January was like yesterday.
I may be late to the party with this, but boy, this Hot Wheels premium release honestly blew my mind.
I was never paying attention to the regular releases of this casting, primarily because they are fairly difficult to obtain here. However, the F&F release was available online for a while, and I decided to give it a shot.
The front air vents are suspiciously reminiscent of whiskers.
It was not until I randomly poked one under minimal light that I realized how brilliant the execution of this little model is.
It is a remarkably faithful tribute to the original car, an absolutely bonkers 4 - door with 592 bhp under its hood, and a manic rear wing more at home in an Evo; a Jag unlike ever before. For comparison, it has nearly 100 bhp more than the XJ220. Interesting how hypercar territory of yesteryear is being gored into ultra - high performance saloon kingdom. Oh, and it also has a little achievement of being the fastest 4 - door around "the Ring".
I wish HW would learn a thing or two from Tomica on logo tampos. This could have been deadly had the logo tampos hit their mark.
I would gladly vote in favor of this for the best HW premium release of 2020, but with the Hill Climbers set, it has very strong competition.
It is easy to dismiss the HW premiums and take them for granted in this time, when brands like TSM are absolutely killing it with their execution. However, all it takes is a very neat little model to remind ourselves of the granddad of them all.
Thanks for stopping by! Weekend is here! Have a great, safe weekend ahead!
