CENTAUR MAXXIMUS MOTION LNG 2000: THE GREEN MONSTER

In 2011 the most powerful propane-powered car ever created was born

The cars powered by propane liquid gas have always been considered as a valid solution for those who needed vehicles with low consumption for short journeys.

The engineers of the US company Centaur Maxximus Motion, however, have glimpsed the potential in this type of power to make a hypercar with incredible performance.

In 2011, they built the LNG 2000 with this idea in their minds, using for this purpose the Ultima GTR supplied by the British factory without the propeller.

The latter was assembled by American technicians and looked like a 7.0 V8 driven by a six-speed Getrag manual transmission and a rear-wheel drive system.

Capable of a power of 1600 hp, the engine allowed the LNG 2000 to reach the maximum speed of 440 km / h with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.6 seconds. But the true innovation of this engine was the possibility of being configured, from time to time, to be powered by LPG, LNG or CNG.

Tested on the track, the car conquered three category records: one for the acceleration, one for the speed reached on the quarter mile (217 km / h) and the last one during the travel of the ¼ mile (10.28 seconds).

Never produced in series, the LNG 2000 was only ever used by the American company as a technological sample to exploit as a base for the production of new cars in the future.
