General Motors CEO Mary Barra will present the company's plan for electrification at CES (Consumer Electronics Show), and should add to its 30 EVs by 2025 goal. Following this demonstration, however, will be something likely more special - the unveiling of new concepts from select GM brands. The concept in the spotlight is a new pickup truck, one that could be a fully electric vehicle, with a plug-in hybrid layout being slightly more plausible.

During an investor conference last month, a mysterious Chevrolet pickup truck, in addition to the GMC , appeared behind the speaker. The brewing trucks from General Motors will join the Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Bolt EUV, Hummer EV truck and SUV, as well as 20-30 others by 2025. The electric pickup truck market is becoming more and more crowded month by month, with the Rivian R1T, Tesla Cybertruck, Ford F-150 Electric, and Ram's electrified 1500 plans already announced.

  • Question is will it be reliable?

  • I want to care but I just don't. To me this is no more pointless than any other 1500 or any 2500 with a gas motor for that point. Trucks are built to haul, not be a grocery getter. Mine is perfectly at home towing my car trailer, in fact I don't even really notice im hauling, but I'm in a 400+ horsepower diesel making over 800 ft lbs of torque to the tire. Anything that's not a true mini truck (think 90s Japanese trucks) really needs a diesel.
