Chevrolet wants $37,758.72 for their 1,004-horsepower crate engine
That’s more than most of its cars.
Following the success of crate engines produced by Dodge and Ford, Chevrolet has designed and revealed its own crate engine. It’s called the ZZ/632 and it produces a mental 1,004 horsepower - but this performance unfortunately does come with a hefty price tag.
The exact figure - according to Chevrolet’s website - is $37,758.72 however the engine is currently on sale for $29,499.
It’s worth noting that this immense power is achieved without any assistance, unlike 4-figure engines from Dodge and Ford. This makes it is entirely possible - with a few aftermarket parts - for the ZZ/632 engine to produce 2,000 horsepower. As to who would buy this engine, the answer is not your average Chevrolet customer or even someone interested in circuit-racing. This engine will most likely only appeal to those wishing to drag race their cars.

By Ferrari's old logic of buying an engine with the rest chucked on for free, bargain! How many hypercars do you know that cost £30k 😅
Where would you put this engine in. Its over 10 liters.
it's for dragsters
The boys from Hoonigan found a place:
for 1000HP that’s not too bad
Exactly! What does it cost to build an engine like this?
The original Tesla Model S had a 362 HP motor. I have no idea what they would cost, but 3 of them would more than equal this old dinosaur if an engine.
I did read about a 400 hp EV motor that weighed in at less than 20 kg. But never seen anything about it since, so assumed they are having trouble getting the necessary Unobtainium to build it.
