Chevy is asking Corvette customers how they’d feel about an “EV sportscar”

Oh well

I’m agnostic when it comes to electric cars, I’m not really for them or against them. I acknowledge and accept that automakers will build them, whether we want them or not , and I know there are a few pros and a few cons. Pros? They’re seamlessly fast and smooth. Cons? Apart from obvious things like range, they’re all silent.

This is a serious issue and manufacturers that build sportscars for a living are going to have to take it seriously. But that’s a problem for later, the most impeding question is, will your favourite car be next? If you own a Chevy Corvette, the answer is ‘probably’.

We know that Chevy is working on an electrified sportscar, possibly an electrified Corvette, dubbed ‘E-Ray’, but Chevy owners have recently taken to online forums to discuss a demi-secret survey that they [privately] received from the company. Chevy is basically asking customers, “Hello dear Corvette customer, how would you feel about an all-electric ‘sportscars?”

Chevy didn’t openly mention the name ‘Corvette’ but, well, they’ve mentioned a mid-engined sportscar. As you’d expect, Chevy owners agreed to disagree. Half of them said ”wow that’s the awesome” and the other half said things that require asterisks. Go get **** with your ***** stupid ***** electric ****. Something along those lines. Hey, don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just relaying what I read.

Chevy trademarked the ‘E-Ray’ name back in 2015, and they’re almost certainly going to use it for an upcoming PHEV sportscar, which may or may not be based on the Corvette. We don’t know. And we probably won’t know until 2023 at the earliest, because Chevy, like most car brands, is knee-deep in mud to the infamous global supply chain issue.

What do you think? Should Chevy build an electric Corvette? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

  • As I always say, EV sports cars are pointless. Sports cars all about having the noise, going fast through corners, which you don’t get in an EV. EV’s can be the future, though if it’s a bright one with EV’s, that I doubt. EV’s are Sci-Fi, not actually good or useful products. We should focus on synthetic fuels and hydrogen technology, not on EV’s. Why would you want an electric Vette? Where’s the fun? Most sports car owners don’t drive their car daily. So the environment point is nonsense here.

  • This is nothing more than a PR stunt, and I'm guessing with already falsified results that will show the vast majority of people are all for EV. Remember, media likes to think it shapes and controls most peoples opinions. Chevy has decided they're going to shove this garbage technology down our throats. Last night I saw a Chevy commercial on TV stating that by 2025, they'll have 50 EV models for people to choose from. 50! RIP Corvette, RIP Chevrolet.

These are very sad times we're living in.
