When Clarkson, Hammond, and May left Top Gear, we were all livid to find out that they weren't just being replaced, but they were being replaced with Chris Evans. After the first episode of the rebooted Top Gear, it was doomed. Chris Evans was loud and annoying, up himself and... did I mention annoying?

Funnily enough, he didn't return for a second series, and to many people's delight, was replaced by Chris Harris and Rory Reid. But what happened to Chris Evans once he'd left?

Well, he picked up a cheque for £10,000,000. That's what. According to The Sun, the radio presenter, TV presenter and second hand car salesman raked in an income of many, many zeroes from his web of companies. Companies House just released records that show the majority of that income came from his company Zimple, which is described as “media services, writing, and trading in the second hand car market”.

Are yo annoyed yet? If not, take a look at the video below.

  • Why would anyone be annoyed with this. He has other well paying things going on. He couldn’t make a success of his time on top gear but he never claims to have done. Good for him knowing what he is good at and sticking at it to earn a salary most people could scarcely dream of

    • that true Hayley but that 1.9 million rating almost killed top gear dead, hard to forgive him for that tg season

    • It’s fickle fandom that’s the problem. People didnt like his style, not his fault, nothing to forgive. The fact he was big enough to recognise he wasn’t right for the position, in fact, is pretty admirable actually. Top Gear is currently...

  • Annoyed? No. I couldn't care any less about the money people make if I tried really hard to concentrate on not giving a shit for an hour. What I do care about is having to pay the bloody telly tax to fund stupid decisions like this. Get rid of that and I won't even notice Evans being loud, irritating and fatuous no matter how many zeroes are on his bank statement because - and here's the crux of the matter - without enforced support we all have that hard to come by commodity called "choice," which is one of the reasons the likes of Amazon Video and Netflix are socially important disruptive influences.

It's the future. We'll pay for our entertainment on demand and we'll have the means to make our feelings on such profligacy known by that simplest of methods: Refusing to contribute.

    • In the US I “cut the cord” after Hurricane Irma. Amazon Prime & YouTube are favs. May add Netflix if Scalzi’s Old Man’s War makes it to the screen. BBC is one of the British systems that can make good TV...but to have to pay a tax?

  • Chris is an astute businessman, and there’s no doubting his car collection is impressive & quite possibly ‘managed’ through a company name (for tax purposes).

However readers from the uk should be aware that ‘the sun’ is not a credible source for anything
