CITROEN 2CV BY ANDY SAUNDERS: THE TRUE CITROEN PICASSO
In 1983 the British artist Andy Saunders built a particular variant of the Citroen 2CV
Usually art cars are a type of vehicle made every now and then by famous artists to experiment with new solutions, but the British artist Andy Saunders builds them by profession.
Saunders has assembled many unusual cars over the years, but perhaps the most particular is this Citroen 2CV, built in 1983 and inspired by the painting "Retrato de Dora Maar" by Pablo Picasso.
Based on a model equipped with the 30hp, 600cc engine with a four-speed manual gearbox, this art car is fully functional and can reach a maximum speed of 104kph (65mph).
The car is recognisable by its multicoloured livery and asymmetrical bodywork components, just like the style of Spain's most famous artist.
I always considered Picasso a little too particular for my tastes, while acknowledging his greatness, but what do you think of this automotive tribute?
