Clarkson, Hammond and May to return to Top Gear for Sabine Schmitz tribute
The trio will feature in a 30-minute special after 6 years away from Top Gear
The passing of the 'Queen of the Nürburgring' on the 16th of March has left the motorsport community in grief. However, let us take this opportunity to celebrate her achievements and who she was as a person. Many recall her first appearance on Top Gear in 2004 and the unforgettable episodes she was featured in: everything from the "Nürburgring Van Challenge" to "Top Gear vs The Germans". Some rumoured that she was even the Stig at one point!
Following this tragedy, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will return to Top Gear one last time to honour Sabine's legacy. Needless to say, the trio are devastated by the loss of one of the coolest racing drivers to ever exist. Clarkson described her as "such a sunny person and so full of beans"; she is someone that we will all dearly miss.
Numerous Top Gear presenters, including Chris Harris, Matt LeBlanc and Rory Reid, will also make an appearance in the 30-minute tribute episode. Special guests, such as Toto and Susie Wolff, will appear alongside the presenters to share their most cherished memories of Sabine.
The episode is already available on BBC iPlayer but will air on television through BBC One. Best to make a note in your calendar for 7:30pm on Wednesday the 7th of April. If you would like to pay further respects to Sabine, there is a petition to name a corner of the Nürburgring after her, which you can access by clicking here or at the bottom of the article.
