In 1984 the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 dominated the first grand prix circuit race, with 20 identical 190E 2.3-16's keeping out all other competition. BMW's reaction to the overwhelming victories Benz had was to make a car to compete against the 190E. BMW came up with the M3 variant of the E30, with nearly 30 more horsepower and 15 more pounds of torque, the light weight M3 dominated the Nürburgring. More to come on the history of both cars. Below I have some performance dynamics and general Specifications comparing these two Homologation race legends.
