Closer Look At Some Suzuki Parts That Bimota Modified.
Getting my SB8R has been an interesting process. Found that Bimota made some unusual changes to some standard Suzuki parts. Unsure why.
As I am sure most of you know, all Bimota are a mix and match of OEM and bespoke parts. From my experience this has actually made life rather easy. it means that getting service items is a breeze.
When I ran into some cooling issues with the bike I just opened a Suzuki parts catalog and and started ordering parts. Little did I know, I had over looked a small detailed change that Bimota had made.
Since the TL1000R engine in the bike is a V twin, the thermostat is located between the two cylinders. Coolant is plumped directly from the castings through a set of hoses to the thermostat. When I got the Suzuki parts, I realized there was an issue.
The Suzuki one is silver, while the Bimota is black. For some reason Bimota decided that the pipe needed to be both longer, and angled. Bimota used the OEM Suzuki thermostat housing and hoses, so the end location of the unit is exactly the same as on the TL1000R.
Either way, I ordered the correct part form Bimota Classic Parts in Italy. Even though the OEM Suzuki parts would have done the job, I want this bike to be a perfectly prepared as possible.
Figured it might be of interest to some. Not much information or pictures of these bike out there.
