How do they do that, do they have some sort of huge snow clearing machine? I don't think the dash of salt the council put down in my area would quite do the trick.
Our state has a scenic highway (OR-242) that closes in the winter because of the typical snow load, high elevation and remote location. In the spring they plow it much like this and open it for a week to people riding bikes only. It is an epic ride in big snow years.

No, that for sure... salt is not the answer.
They use machine that catches snow in the front by some witchcrafted wheels and propels it on the side.
