Complete Indy 500 entry list: See who Fernando Alonso will be racing against
The Spaniard will be up against seven former winners
The final entry list for the Indy 500 is all but confirmed.
The race takes place on Sunday, May 28, the same day as the Monaco Grand Prix.
Of course this year Fernando Alonso is swapping F1 and Monaco for IndyCar and the 500.
The list below shows who the two-time world champion will be up against as he bids for victory in his first ever appearance in the historic race.
Apart from anything else, he will be racing seven drivers who have already won it.
Helio Castroneves, Juan Pablo Montoya, Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Alexander Rossi, and Buddy Lazier have all drank the milk before, and are aiming to do likewise this year.
Alonso, 35, completed his first IndyCar test on the Indianapolis oval last week, and three-time Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti said he was 'amazed' by the Spaniard's performance.
'I thought he got up to speed incredibly quickly,' the Scot said after the test.
'I sat and watched the whole rookie test and I thought he did a great job.
'To drive an oval is a very unusual thing for a road course driver who has grown up driving on road and street courses, and Indianapolis is probably even more so a law unto itself.
'The good news is, there's a lot of days of practice. If it rains, that could change things a little but, but every lap Fernando's going to get is going to be helpful.'
