Confirmed: McLaren Speedtail Will Have Over 1,000bhp!
The top speed - and price - is equally impressive.
McLaren has tonight confirmed that its upcoming Ultimate Series car, the Speedtail, will kick out more than 1,000bhp. And we can reveal something else too: we’re officially out of superlatives for fast cars.
The company calls the Speedtail their ‘first-ever Hyper-GT’, which suggests it’s far beyond the 670 LT and the P1. It’s sort of difficult to comprehend, but it’ll wage into battle against the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Mercedes-AMG One.
To deserve that moniker, it’ll have the highest top speed of any McLaren yet – Woking promises over 243mph, partially achieved by a ‘momentous, flowing, highly streamlined design’. It’s clear that the Speedtail will be the pinnacle of McLaren’s efforts up until now, including the very latest hybrid technology to produce that astounding figure. Remember when only the craziest tuning companies were creating 1,000bhp monsters? That seems far away now.
If you have one of these, it's now worthless. Sorry.
We haven’t seen much of the interior yet – the official reveal takes place at 1pm BST on Friday 26th October – but it’ll definitely have three seats, with the driver placed squarely in the middle. Inspired by the McLaren F1, they add.
You’ll be lucky to ever see one outside of Instagram, but it’s unlikely that no two will be the same. McLaren promises exquisite new materials and boundless tailoring through its MSO division, which handles the most outrageous customisation requests and even makes completely bespoke cars – if your bank account contains more digits than your phone number.
MSO will cater to your every requirement, even if that's just recreating an old racing livery.
McLaren has been popping out new cars at a ridiculous rate (the 12C only debuted in 2011), and there’s no sign of that stopping any time soon. The Speedtail is the first of 18 (EIGHTEEN) new cars or derivatives due by 2025.
Want to get your hands on this mind-blowing machine? Tough luck. Only 106 will be created, but all are already spoken for. At £1.75 million each, without having seen the car. Crazy, huh?
Of course, DriveTribe will have the full details as soon as it’s revealed, so make sure you’re ready!
