Controversial Opinion: I sorta like the new Supra
The concept looked a 100 times better
We can all agree the concept looked awesome. That's why we we're all very disappointed with the result because there simply is no comparison. The styling is phenomenal. It has an insane amount of aero on it for being just a sports car. Think of the selling potential too, in affect a supercar in looks and performance for the price of your mum's land rover. I have know idea what they were thinking not using this. However, me being an ignorant and very greedy car enthusiast, there's was probably a very logical and good reason behind going for the smaller less cool version. Or is Toyota deliberately trying to disappoint the fan-boys?
So we're left with this ( and I quite like it )
Even though it isn't nearly as cool as the concept it is still quite good. I like the wheels how they look aftermarket and how they fit the car very well, which is a rare find in today's market. I also like the little aero bit at the front, you could almost call it a front splitter. The batman looking lines around the eyes.... uh I mean lights are very reminiscent of the older supra that literally everyone loved. And that itty-bitty but not really spoiler in the back fits in very well. Lastly I really love the rear it almost looks like its angry at you telling you to back off. The lights in the back coupled with those vent type things (not sure what to call them) look astoundingly good.
It took me a year to find this picture so be happy. Anyway I hate it, it's trying so hard to be a sports car. They even put red interior accents to make it seem more sporty. It's just not, the interior looks like its from a Camry (it probably is). The screen. stick and dials/knobs are very un-modern for a 50-80,000 $ car. There is just to much of it too, your 50,000 dollar supra shouldn't be like flying a jet if your taking it for a spin, They should pull a Tesla and put it all on a massive screen, if not all of them at least the buttons on the steering wheel there are 12 of them!!!!!
Making just around 340 Horsepower and around 365 ft/lb of torque. This thing does 0-60 in 4.1 and maxes at a cool 155, which is good for a sedan. I might be wrong but in perspective a Toyota Camry will do 136 that's only 19 off. You want more than that from a sports car. For example a 2017 Corvette Stingray will do 195 and a Jaguar F-Type V6 S will do 172. They are not doing half bad on the 0-60 but they need to step it up on the top speed. All of this performance I've been talking about is made by a 3.0 twin turbo inline 6 made by BMW which is why it shares most of its spec or at least its top speed with the BMW Z4 which bears the same engine. I kinda like it though. It combines the fabled reliability of Toyota with the extremely real reliability of BMW which I can personally attest to. Out of topic my grandfather owned a 200,000 clocked miles BMW with zero problems only regular maintenance is needed. But the Toyota supra fan-boys and purist apparently have a major problem with this, Which is mostly the cause for the general dislike.
Not Bad but not good either
