Corvette Z06 Crashes While Racing Mustang
That can't be right...
We all know that Mustangs are infamous for being crash-prone. However, as this following incident attests, any car can fly out of control if pushed too hard.
This clip, filmed in Grafton, Illinois, shows that a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 pulled beside a number of Mustangs. Predictably, the Corvette and a dark red Mustang and a second car, which is blocked from view, line up for a drag race.
The moment the Mustang and the other car starts to accelerate, the driver of the Z06 does the same, immediately spinning up the rear tires. The Corvette driver continues to accelerate for roughly 100 feet as the rear wheels continue to spin, leaving thick black lines along the road.
However, things soon turn ugly when the Corvette starts to slide to the left. Rather than releasing the throttle altogether and letting the car regain traction, the driver slams on the brakes. This sends the car sliding across the road before it hits the concrete median while almost taking out a Ford Mustang GT in the process. The ‘Vette then spins and slides around on the median before coming to a stop.
Although there were no pictures or videos of the aftermath of this event, we can assume the Corvette took a lot of damage (and that the owner learned a lesson). See the video below:
Oof. I filmed this gem today. The driver was ok. (For licensing and usage, contact: firstname.lastname@example.org)
