Curtiss reveal the Hera - a new 111 year old classic
The futuristic all electric take on a classic
1907 there was a man. A man called Glenn Curtiss and he was one of the very first men to place a V8 engine inside a motorcycle.
Now, 111 years later his company is going to revamp his idea and tailor it for today's market. Curtiss Motorcycles is going fully electric and very futuristic.
Called the Hera, the new design which has been solely based on its 1907 great grandfather; will hold an 8-piece battery pack arranged in the v formation, with an e-twin motor beneath the seat.
The Hera will deliver a more than decent 280 mile range and will carry a healthy 0 to 60 time of 2.1 seconds, all with a 140Kw motor.
The new Curtiss models are said to go into direct competition with the highly anticipated electric Harley Davidson bikes. Production will begin in 2020 with pricing, detailed specifications, and reservation details to be released very soon.
As far as looks go, I think the Hera looks absolutely fantastic. Having said that, with electric cars and bikes on the horizon from almost every maker I think that Curtiss Motorcycles is going to have a lot more competition than they believe.
