Dacia is set to electrify all models 'in the next 2-3 years'

Exciting but will it make them expensive?

Dacia is one of those car brands which fail to disappoint me. They are so well known for the cheap cars they sell yet you never hear of them going wrong or splitting in half. Some may say they are better put together than a £100,000 Tesla. But recently, I have found them to be a bit plain until now.

The Renault Europe executive, Philippe Buros has stated that Dacia will soon become a fully electrified brand within the next 2-3 years. This is a big step up from where they are now but it leaves me with one big concern.

Surely this will significantly bump the prices up? The cheapest fully electric car on the market currently costs around £6,000 and it is tiny. A normal sized fully electric car can cost upwards of £27,000 which is almost £20k more than a Duster. However, if they can do it and still keep it under £10,000 then they will have struck gold.

What do you think to this?
