Dakar Rally 2018 kicks off with first two stages in Peru
See the best pictures as the epic challenge begins in South America
The 2018 Dakar Rally event kicked off this weekend with the first stages of the event in Peru.
Our ace photographer Marian Chytka is there to capture all the action as the rally continues through Peru and then into Bolivia and Argentina.
Marian has been covering Dakar for years and is able to get right up close to the competitors as they battle across South America.
After the first two stages on Saturday and Sunday, Cyril Despres took the lead of the rally as he led home an all-Peugeot top three on day two, an 166-mile mostly off-road loop.
His Peugeot team-mate Stephane Peterhansel is currently second overall, while Giniel de Villiers of Toyota Gazoo Racing South Africa is in third.
