Dan Ticktum released from Williams
The British driver was dropped by Red Bull and quickly swooped by Williams, but he finds himself losing his Williams backing too.
Dan Ticktum is no longer a Williams Development Driver it has been announced, with immediate effect.
After being dropped by Red Bull following a failed Super Formula campaign in Japan, Ticktum was signed to Williams at the beginning of 2020.
Under Williams backing, the Brit launched his first charge on the Formula 2 Championship, finishing 11th overall come the end of the season. His start to 2021 has been considerably better, standing on the podium five times and winning a Sprint Race in Monaco.
Whilst competing in Formula 2 he also participated in simulator work for the British outfit, helping to develop the current and 2022 Williams F1 cars.
Williams confirmed to F1.com that Ticktum had been released from not only his development role, but from their driver academy, last week.
The exact reason as to why he was released remains unknown.
