Dear DT Members,

In recent news...

Today, we found out that Drivetribe.com will be no more after the end of this month. That means everything I have ever done on this site, and pretty much my automotive journalistic career will be gone. I do plan on saving everything for my portfolio, but it'll be unknown when it'll be used again. I now must find a new site to write my reviews, even though it has been a dry year with only reviewing a mere 16 cars. Now, I will not receive anything until I find my footing again.

And this just hasn't affected me, but this is affecting everyone on this site. I am still in shock from the news. Some people may have heard through the Discord chat, on this site, or elsewhere. How did I find out? From Liz. No one knows who Liz is, but she's been the lady scheduling in my press cars for a company who schedules out press loans whenever they're available. I got an email from her today while at my full-time job, expecting it was about a string of press loans, when come to find out, it read that she is sorry Drivetribe is closing down and wondering where else I will be writing my reviews. I had to Google to be sure and not a prank, even though it isn't April Fool's Day.

And now, I have to sit here and think back to how I started out writing reviews on cars that dealerships let me test drive and give them a bit of a shoutout/publicity in return. When I gained enough popularity in the eyes of the manufacturers, I started getting press cars with my first one being a Maserati Levante priced at just over $100,000. Since then, I haven't looked back. With my automotive reviews going on a definite hiatus now, I think back to the best and worst cars I have driven. The first of the best cars I have driven was the all-new Supra/Z4. I reviewed it as a sports car only and boy was it great. I took it on a road trip vacation to Maine for my 1-year wedding anniversary which was roughly a total trip of 1,500 miles. And the worst one that comes to mind was that terrible Prius. What piece of work that was. Speaking of road trips, the ones I took just last year to Tennessee, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Connecticut. Most of these trips were in my beautiful BMW 328i M-Sport, which I also reviewed and said is one of the best cars for a long road trip in every article I wrote about with a trip. And the worst was the recent Audi Q5 when I went to Nashville for my 2-year wedding anniversary. All of those articles will just disappear off the internet at the end of the month. I'll say it now, it isn't fair. I've worked damn hard, like everyone else, to get here and where you all are as well, for it to end like this.

But none of this will matter come the end of the month, which is why I want to say it now. I want to thank everyone on here who has clicked on my articles and given them a read. Given my articles a "Bump" or even an "Award." Let's not forget the ones who comment as well. You all are appreciated. And to those who have also "Joined" North's Auto Reviews in the almost 5 years, I have been writing my reviews on here, you're the real MVPs. I have received over 2-million collected views on all of my articles with 301 members who joined. I never thought that would have been achieved. You are truly and greatly appreciated. Lastly, I would also like to thank those who promoted my articles and reviews through the years. You know who you are, and you're greatly and truly appreciated as well. Thank you for seeing my work as valuable content and sharing it across the platform. Also, thank you, Jeremy, Richard, and James for giving me this opportunity to do my best into following in your footsteps. I hope one day to be able to meet you 3 in person. Lastly, I want to thank my wife for believing in me in getting this far and helping me in aspects I could have only gotten better at it thanks to her. I thank her for everything when it comes to this, especially believing in me and getting to be a part of what I enjoy doing. You're the best, and always will be.

One last thing to do before I end this post. If you could please follow either my Twitter or Instagram account or both, that would be great. My Twitter account to follow is @charlesnorthvi. My Instagram account is @theonlysixthcharles. This will allow you all to follow me on my journey to a new place and keep up on everything if you want to. And just so I know you are the one who followed me on either social media site, message me and tell me you followed me from this article. And if you do so, I'll throw in a present of the sort. Maybe a signed hat I haven't sold, or a decal, or a license plate. All signed by yours truly as a token of my appreciation. I do not know what I have left, but once they're gone, they're gone. And if you do follow me and can't get something like that, I'll send you a signed business card of mine. Or maybe photos of cars I have taken a pic of. Your choice. Anyways. Thank you everyone and have a great day!

Sincerely,

Charles North VI

  • Hi Charles,

I'm still coming to terms with DT's shutdown. For years now it has been the only form of social media I use, mainly because I've found the community very positive, enthusiastic and enjoyable-- in no small part thanks to content creators such as yourself.

I always enjoyed the articles you wrote as they were among the more thorough ones published on this site, and I can only imagine what DT's disappearance must mean to you. I just want to wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

    Thanks for everything.

  • Your reviews will definitely be missed! Some DriveTribers have been joining opposite-lock.com/ and it sounds like there could be some good opportunities with Gregson at shifting lanes - drivetribe.com/p/heres-how-we-can-keep-the-drivetribe-CyJoBjyRQiePpNrhY2KdOA?iid=Cvt7iCJIQSudWTRhFcLMCg
